Hearing Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimers
Are They Connected?
According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), a part of the US Government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH), they are connected.
There are numerous studies in PubMed showing that people who have hearing loss are more likely to develop dementia of any kind than those who have no hearing impairment.
People with hearing loss who don’t get some kind of “intervention” such as a hearing aid or implant tend to have more brain shrinkage.
